Photography
Stretching over 4 cities, 23_05_2007 is an ongoing visual investigation into the megalopolises’ most feared and cherished product, the crowd.
This body of work gives us a unique insight of the everyday “mask” we put on while exposed to the gaze of others. Franz Hessel refers to the experience of walking in the crowd as a dip in the surf.
By disguising his camera, the photographer becomes almost invisible allowing us to explore the visual and behavioural interaction between photographed subject and the surrounding buzzing multiplicity in close proximity.
